Laurens Iowa Wine Festival and Market

Time is quickly approaching for the second annual Laurens Wine Festival and Market. This event is held to feature Native Iowa Wineries and local artisans. It is held on Walnut Street in Laurens on Saturday, July 19th from 11:00 am to 5:00pm. A 2008 wine glass is needed to participate in sampling the Iowa Wines.

You may purchase the Laurens wine glasses the day of the festival. Look for the Sister City booth (near the center of the activities) to buy your glass for $10; show proof of age (21 years old); get a stamp for your hand; and to sample some Laurens French wine. There is no smoking in the area of the festival and market.

You are then free to wander around and sample wines from: Madison County Winery (St. Charles); Park Farm Winery (Bankston); Penoach Winery (Adel); Prairie Moon Winery (Ames); Rosey Acres Winery (Runnells); Santa Maria Vineyard & Winery (Carroll); Spotted Horse Vineyards (Arcadia); Summerset Winery (Indianola); Winneshiek Wildberry Winery (Decorah).  If your winery would like join us, click here for the registration.

In the festival and market area will be vendors selling and sampling cheese straws, breads, carved wooden spoons, handmade jewelry, etched wine bottles, and candy.

You are encouraged to bring coolers along for any purchases that you might make concerning the wine. Wine can actually be damaged by the heat of a car. Most of the wine is considered “table wine” and is bottled at the peak of perfection. It is most beneficial to drink the wine within months of purchase.

This is such a wonderful opportunity for Northwest Iowa to sample some of the top Iowa wines and take some home. You don't have the expense of traveling to pick it up in Southern Iowa! Plus what a great chance to speak to the wine owners and vintners.

The Laurens Wine Festival and Market Commission also would like to encourage retailers that hold a Native Iowa Wine License to come and experience the wines to pick up for their store.

All profits from the sell of the wine glasses goes to the City of Laurens' Sister City Commission to assist with the shipping of the gift to Laurens, France and to help in paying for the student ambassador's airfare.

So get ready for a good time! The Laurens Iowa Wine Festival and Market will be held during the CELEBRATE LAURENS! events.
